🫣 Event Review - Kanna Breathwork
Last week I had the pleasure of partnering with my friend Lana to host an evening of breathwork and socializing powered by the curious new medicine on the scene known as Kanna.
What is Kanna?
Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) has roots in South Africa (similar to myself) and is known for its potential to alleviate anxiety, depression, and naturally support mental health. I had the pleasure of trying it for the first time last November when I was in South Africa visiting family and then had the opportunity for this synchronistic partnership to occur with Lana shortly after returning when she reached out about hosting a breathwork event together.
Kanna contains alkaloids such as mesembrine, which are believed to interact with neurotransmitters in the brain that can contribute to mood enhancement and stress reduction. Some studies have shown that Kanna may have anxiolytic and antidepressant properties. It has been given the moniker of “Nature’s MDMA”, which may sound a bit leading - however my experience with it and what we experienced in this evening would suggest that there is certainly some merit to this given it’s empathogenic properties that open the heart and produce a gentle warm openness to users. We were sampling product from Kanna Wellness, which is Canada’s first Kanna product line available here. Breathwork is a beautiful modality to stack with medicine’s like this for our ability to use the breath to quiet the prefrontal cortex where the monkey mind lives, and connect deeper with ourselves and the effects the medicine may offer.
The experience was A+ overall and felt like a much needed reset for some of the participants. We’re in the middle of the winter and gathering and breathing together certainly warms the heart and soul. The breath portion was about an hour and we all hung out for another hour or so afterwards enjoying the presence of each other’s open hearts.
Kanna is also not listed as a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act - making it an exciting little materials to experiment with given it’s wide ranging applications for energy, mood improvement and pro-social support. Kanna’s primary mechanism of action (MOA) involves the inhibition of the serotonin transporter which increases the availability of serotonin in the brain. Like any medicine or psychoactive substance, users should take precautions, especially those that interact with our serotonergic systems as there are risks that exist if someone is on SSRIs.

Kanna Breathers
Overall I’ll give my facilitation a 10/10, it was also held in my apartment, so I’m giving the venue a 10/10 as well for the immaculate vibes and low venue fees. Participants were all amazing and I ended the night feeling really inspired to host more gatherings like this at my place so expect to see more events like this in the calendar. Hit me up if you’re interested in the next one and I’ll be sure to reach out personally before releasing the details out to the public!
🌊 Studio Review - Flow Hydrotherapy 💩
Culminating a post-Japan parasite cleanse, I did the only responsible thing a de-worming dude would do. And that is to visit a colonic studio to get my insides rinsed out to flush out any remaining unwanted guests. I visited Flow Hydrotherapy located in the High-Park area of Bloor West. This was my second time visiting this clinic and they have earned a 5-star review in my books. What makes this clinic superior to colonic providers is their Angel of Water Colon Irrigation System. It makes for a far more effective and uninterrupted experience that most legacy systems and providers do not offer. Other places require a practitioner to be present and facilitate the irrigation process which even I found to be pretty weird. This system offers total privacy to release and cleanse - a much more enjoyable experience!

The AoW Chair
I’m consciously not sharing any images from my time in the chair as not to scare anyone off. Overall this is as good as it gets for cleaning out ones insides and it is especially recommended for anyone that’s finishing a cleanse or detox to finish off the vessel purification. $120 is what a session will run you (pardon the pun) - which is also less than what one may spend on a night out in the city. A pretty reasonable comparison to get your ass rinsed by the city or by the Angel of Water, the choice is yours!
💊 Products I’m Enjoying: Para Kit by Cellcore 🪱
As mentioned in the above studio review - I returned from Japan and dove right into a parasite cleanse. For anyone unfamiliar with what these are and want to get quickly informed, you can check this video out. It opens with a bold statement that “Parasites have killed more humans than all wars in history.” No matter the veracity in that, the truth is there are parasitic organisms in pretty much every one of us, whether we choose to admit it or not. Symptoms of parasites range from skin irritation, gut imbalances, neurological disorders, weakened immunity, malabsorption and more.
We will talk more about parasites in a further deep dive in another issue - in the mean time I suggest doing some independent research and assessing of your own willingness to acknowledge their existence in and around you, and then we can move towards taking action.
Chelsea and I did a water fast through the full moon, paired with the cleanse instructions and kit from CellCore. FYI parasites are more active during full moon, hence the timing to clobber them with these nutraceuticals is intentional and effective.

Dosing Protocol
These are specialty products, unavailable online and to the general public without going through a practitioner. I’m sharing my friend Justin’s Practitioner Portal to purchase the Para Kit here that he’s shared with us. They’re by far the most effective I have experienced. It comes with 4 products all designed to extract, kill and bind to the toxic guests and extract them throughout the 7 day protocol. One of my favourite parts about this kit/cleanse is that it is only a 5-7 day experience, as opposed to other cleanses I have done that range from 2-4 weeks and become pretty exhaustive.
Similar to the Flow Hydrotherapy column, I’ll abstain from sharing any nasty pics of the results but please enjoy a shot of the products at hand that facilitate the experience. The kit runs for $235 - and while that may come off as expensive to some, I can’t overstate enough how we cannot put a price on our health and purity of our beings.

The Kit
There is a wealth of information available online, and on Cellcore’s site. You can also reach out to Justin who’s code we’re using to purchase or you can bounce stuff off me as your armchair health guru for any questions you have.
I’m thinking of doing monthly cleanses/detoxes/fasts in a group format. If you’d like to join me, let me know! At a minimum a fast through the full moon, which is far easier in the company of others for shared accountability and triumph.
